The New Balance Nationals Indoor
Better than 3,500 of the top track-and-field student athletes from across the U.S. and Canada will be once again competing in the New Balance Nationals Indoor, presented by the National Scholastics Athletic Foundation (NSAF) and in its ninth year calling The Armory here in Washington Heights home.
These sprinters, runners, hurdlers, and throwers will square off in nearly 50 Championship events as well as a whole slew of Emerging Elite and Freshman contests. Last year saw the debut of a new event at the New Balance Nationals Indoor, the Mixed-gender 4x400mRelay, slated to return for the 2019 meet.
The New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory
The New Balance Nationals Indoor is only one of more than 100 track-and-field events that the non-profit Armory Foundation hosts each year at the Neoclassical-style Fort Washington Avenue Armory, built in the early 1900s. Those meets also include the world-famous Millrose Games, which just took place this month, as well as the Armory NYC Indoor Marathon Presented by New York Road Runners, which happens to be the biggest indoor marathon relay on the planet.
The Armory is also home to the National Track & Field Hall of Fame, a decades-old museum honoring some of the trailblazers and superstars among America’s track-and-field athletes, coaches, journalists, and other figures.
